About the Role

Port is seeking a Product Marketing Manager, Customer References to build and manage the company's customer reference and advocacy program. This role is crucial for transforming customer success into a powerful go-to-market asset, accelerating deals, and demonstrating the real-world value of Port's platform. The ideal candidate is passionate about customer storytelling, thrives in ambiguity, and can translate complex technical outcomes into compelling narratives for engineering leaders and platform teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale Port's customer reference program, including a structured database of referenceable customers, advocates, and proof points.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to identify and cultivate customer champions at strategic accounts.
  • Develop tiered reference tracks, including reference calls, case studies, event speakers, and advisory participation.
  • Lead the production of high-impact customer content such as written case studies, video testimonials, one-pagers, ROI spotlights, blog posts, webinars, and social proof snippets.
  • Interview customers and translate technical outcomes into compelling narratives for various stakeholders.
  • Maintain a library of use-case-specific proof points for Sales, SDRs, and Product Marketing.
  • Equip Sales and SDR teams with reference assets tailored to deal stage, vertical, use case, and objection type.
  • Integrate customer evidence into core messaging, pitch decks, and competitive materials.
  • Track asset usage and sales feedback to continuously improve content quality and relevance.
  • Strategically recruit, nurture, and manage customer advocates, maintaining an ongoing engagement cadence.
  • Coordinate customer participation in webinars, conferences, press opportunities, and Port-hosted events.
  • Collaborate on high-impact customer programs including the Customer Advisory Board (CAB) and Customer Summit.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams on leveraging customer stories.
  • Own Port's anonymized customer usage data as a strategic asset, analyzing cohorts, use cases, product usage patterns, surveys, and behavioral signals.
  • Distill data streams into compelling storytelling collateral for thought leadership, awareness campaigns, and sales proof points.
  • Partner with Product, Data, and Demand Generation teams to identify and package impactful insights for external audiences.
  • Define and track KPIs for the reference program’s health.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in customer marketing, product marketing, or a related B2B marketing role.
  • Proven experience building or scaling a customer reference or advocacy program.
  • Strong storytelling instincts with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical curiosity and comfort learning complex products.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with enterprise customers, from practitioners to executive leaders.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and effective in fast-moving, cross-functional environments.
