About the Role
We are seeking a Software Vendor Management and Commercial Operations Lead to maximize the commercial value and optimize the financial efficiency of enterprise software licenses and internal technology platforms. This role involves managing the full commercial lifecycle of software assets, driving cost-reduction initiatives, and ensuring robust financial chargeback and compliance operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of software licenses and subscriptions, including inventory tracking, renewals, usage monitoring, and optimization.
- Support commercial discussions and renewal processes with key software vendors to achieve cost-efficiency and business objectives.
- Coordinate vendor relationships and act as a liaison between internal stakeholders, Global Procurement (GP), Legal, and external partners.
- Lead commercial discussions and negotiations for major software licenses and tools, including Atlassian, Mathworks, and Blackduck, driving cost savings and optimization.
- Manage the full inventory and lifecycle of software licenses, including usage tracking and license type optimization.
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for software vendors, coordinating communication with Global Procurement (GP) and Legal.
- Develop and manage the commercial model for the resale and external deployment of specific platforms and tools at an approved margin.
- Ensure accurate processing and documentation of all software-related financial transactions, including Quotations, POs, Invoices, and AP.
- Design, operate, and refine chargeback and cost allocation schemes for key internal platforms.
- Ensure all software licensing and platform usage aligns with contractual terms and internal governance rules.
- Collaborate with PM & Engineering teams to review platform feature enhancements and verify alignment with software licensing agreements.
- Coordinate with corporate headquarters and affiliate organizations on billing, agreement amendments, and organizational changes.
- Drive the transition from ad-hoc management to a centralized operational framework, establishing clear guidelines for license tracking, billing, and budgeting.
Requirements
- 5+ years in Software Asset Management (SAM), Software Vendor Management, or IT Commercial Operations within a large technology organization.
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise licensing and commercial models.
- Demonstrated ability in negotiating complex enterprise software contracts and designing financial allocation/chargeback methodologies.
- Proven track record of managing conflicting requirements and aligning business, technical, legal, and financial stakeholders.
- Business level for Japanese and English.
