About the Role
Atlassian is seeking a Technical Revenue Accounting Senior Manager to join their Revenue Accounting Team. This high-impact, high-visibility role involves partnering with leaders across Go-To-Market, Monetization, Sales, Legal, and Engineering teams to support Atlassian’s growth objectives. The role provides technical accounting expertise on ASC 606 for business stakeholders on new product initiatives, channel incentive programs, and other strategic revenue initiatives. It also involves crafting roadmaps and solutions with Engineering, Sales, and Product Management to scale Atlassian’s enterprise order-to-cash process.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Engineering teams to deliver go-to-market strategies and address related accounting impacts.
- Leverage technical expertise to proactively provide desirable revenue accounting results and revenue recognition policy guidance on complex accounting programs and/or transactions to business partners.
- Bring experience with large scale enterprise software revenue models, identify and lead the implementation of process improvements to scale up Atlassian’s Enterprise order to cash accounting process.
- Leverage technology to automate and streamline revenue accounting processes.
- Act as the subject matter expert for the Revenue Team over the revenue module (RevPro), including managing data integrity, configuring system logic, and resolving revenue data discrepancies.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to revenue recognition and reporting.
- Support external audits and provide audit-ready and SOX compliant documentation.
- Maintain and improve internal controls over revenue processes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of revenue experience with a combination of public accounting and industry experiences, particularly with Enterprise/SaaS revenue teams at scale.
- Deep understanding of ASC 606 and experience with RevPro (essential) and ERP systems like Oracle.
- Excellent research abilities, strong technical writing skills, and experience/aptitude in various challenging revenue recognition topics.
- Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about issues, leading to recommendations and action plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels at the company.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with a Big-4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.
