About the Role
The Manager, Taxation will assist the Director and Vice President of Tax in ensuring tax compliance and operational excellence. This role involves managing business-as-usual tax compliance, tax due diligence, risk management, and revenue authority interactions within a dynamic and challenging environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the Tax Director and Tax VP with BAU tax matters including Income tax, GST, Pillar 2, International tax, payroll, and FBT.
- Prepare annual income tax returns and review quarterly distributions.
- Coordinate compliance engagements with external advisors regarding thin capitalisation, hybrids, transfer pricing, and tax fixed asset registers.
- Assist with tax due diligence and provide ongoing tax support to Finance, HR, Legal, and Company Secretarial teams.
- Proactively identify tax issues and recommend courses of action.
- Assist with ATO reviews and maintain technical tax knowledge.
- Support tax forecasting, business planning, and calculations for disposals.
- Assist with step plans for acquisitions and disposals.
- Manage quarterly and annual tax reporting obligations and financial statement disclosures.
- Prepare fringe benefits tax returns.
- Perform first-level tax review for monthly BAS and assist with ITX Edge.
- Identify opportunities for tax process automation.
- Provide guidance to tax administrators and support ad hoc tax advisory matters.
Requirements
- 5 years of corporate tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm, top-tier law firm, or multinational corporate group.
- Working knowledge of tax effect accounting and preparation of tax disclosures for statutory financial statements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work autonomously, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong project management skills with a commercially pragmatic approach.
