About the Role

The Global Alternatives Investments Solutions team is seeking candidates for the position of Alternative Investment Business Consultant. Candidates will be critical for the growth of the Alternative Investment Solutions business as subject matter experts, directly working with financial advisors and collaborating with generalist business consultants to deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the subject matter expert across all alternative investment and private market asset classes, focusing on supporting the private wealth/advised retail channel.
  • Engages directly with financial advisors to support wholesaler efforts in expanding knowledge and use of private markets and alternative investment solutions.
  • Delivers and conveys complex investment solutions to advisors in an understandable and relatable manner.
  • Manages a large territory and works closely with the sales organization.
  • Discusses portfolio allocation guidance, suitability, structuring, and liquidity considerations for advisor portfolios.
  • Partners with key account managers and platform due diligence teams to drive product placements and allocations.
  • Works with Training & Development to build an alternatives education platform for internal sales professionals and external advisor clients.
  • Collaborates with Investment, Strategy, and Marketing teams to build content, collateral, and brand awareness campaigns.
  • Supports strategic initiatives and projects on behalf of the Alternatives Product Team.
  • Cultivates an understanding of the Alternatives ecosystem through ongoing interactions.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other Investment Specialists.
  • Engages in meeting preparation, prioritizing information, and advising on presentation content and product positioning.
  • Produces expected sales results and activity levels.
  • Maintains an accurate and current log of all activities and opportunities in Salesforce CRM.
  • Represents MIM/JHI at conferences, events, and meetings professionally.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in the alternative investment management industry with direct experience in business development or as a specialist working directly with advisors.
  • Prior experience in private credit, structured credit, real assets and/or private equity is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with various investment structures including BDCs, interval funds, tender offer funds, NTRs and private placements.
  • Experience selling into private wealth channels (wirehouses, private banks, broker-dealers, RIAs).
  • Knowledge of current and historical developments in the non-traded industry and the evolution of products.
  • Strong knowledge of the operational functions for the private market subscription process including platforms like iCapital, CAIS, +SUBSCRIBE and others.
  • Strong business development acumen; relationships with Alternatives stakeholders at key broker-dealer firms a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to effectively articulate complex topics internally and externally.
  • Presents effectively in 1:1 meetings and large groups.
  • Highly proficient in the capital markets and positioning alternatives as a portfolio allocation.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, organized with exceptional time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly motivated.
  • High degree of integrity with team player mentality.
  • Strong work ethic, professional disposition, detail–oriented, passion for investments.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels and functions of an organization.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel 50% of the time.

Salary/Compensations

  • $125,000.00 USD - $216,700.00 USD
  • Opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
