About the Role
This role is central to shaping how complex, high-stakes transaction flows become intuitive interfaces. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker comfortable with both visual design and challenging product assumptions.
Responsibilities
- Own the full design process across product surfaces, from workshops and mockups to production-quality prototypes.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to shape strategic direction and integrate design thinking into roadmap conversations.
- Define and evolve Sapiom's design system, determining when to use conventions and when to create new patterns.
- Ship interfaces for complex problems including agentic spend authorization, policy enforcement UX, real-time transaction monitoring, and developer-facing configuration flows.
- Advocate for design quality and consistency across the company, establishing standards and improving the product's look and feel.
- Nurture a design culture as an early team member by giving and receiving feedback, mentoring, and building a positive work environment.
Requirements
- Proven track record designing interactive products in complex technical domains such as developer tooling, infrastructure software, fintech, or security.
- Exceptional visual, UI, and interaction craft with the judgment to evolve the design system.
- Proficiency with modern design tools including collaborative workshops, high-fidelity design, and production/prototype code.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate design perspectives, seek feedback, and influence peers.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in fast-moving engineering environments with continuous product shipping.
- Ability to hold a strong point of view while remaining open to better arguments, with a focus on outcomes over ego.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and contributing to a developing function, with significant ownership in an early-stage role.

About the Company
- AI agents are beginning to act on behalf of companies and users — making purchases, spinning up compute, triggering workflows, and interacting with third-party systems. But today's financial infrastructure was built for humans, not autonomous systems. Companies and developers need a way to give agents controlled access, meter actions, monetize usage, and transact across rails, without rebuilding payments, risk, and compliance internally.
- Sapiom builds the financial payments infrastructure for the machine economy - autonomous spend rails that enable AI agents to transact with real-world services safely, processing every dollar spent, every policy decision navigated, and every risk signal generated.
- We have assembled a world-class team with deep payments and infrastructure DNA to build the operating system for machines. Backed by a $15.75M investment from Accel, Menlo, and Anthropic, we are moving with relentless focus to deploy the economic substrate for autonomous agents.
