About the Role
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and integrate software solutions. The role focuses on building high-quality, innovative, and performant software that complies with coding standards and technical design.
Responsibilities
- Manage formal and informal requirements to define, validate and control scope to complete all the deliverables within a project successfully
- Support conversion of customer requirements into a refined vision
- Support development of user, functional, and technical requirements for software systems
- Design and implement solutions that meet specific requirements using state-of-the-art data structures, algorithms, patterns, and tools
- Explore and prototype next-generation solutions
- Design, implement, and test software using multiple languages and technology stacks
- Develop software interfaces to communicate across various network protocols and messaging frameworks
- Integrate software components into complex software environments
- Maintain a focus on quality that produces deliverables that meet objectives and align needs, uses, and acceptance requirements set forth by relevant stakeholders
- Participate in and provide feedback in design and code reviews
- Develop software using secure coding practices
- Support test and integration activities in IDT labs, as well as on-site customer labs
- Assess, plan, identify, analyze, mitigate and control risks and opportunities
- Support preparation, tracking, and delivery of contractual deliverables
Requirements
- All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent full-time professional experience
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed.
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures and software design patterns
- Ability to identify and describe algorithmic complexity
- Ability to convert customer requirements into a refined vision
- Experience with software testing and configuration management
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
- Excellence in oral, written, and technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts

- $90,000 - $184,000 / year
