About the Role

Ansible Government Solutions is recruiting Emergency Medicine Physicians to support the VA Western New York Healthcare System in Buffalo, NY. Full-time and Locum Tenens positions are available with generous compensation packages.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial evaluation, emergent treatment, and management of various medical conditions including wound care, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, burns, musculoskeletal trauma, dermatological, ENT, eye, and urological problems.
• Manage minor procedures such as local infiltration anesthesia, incision and drainage, simple laceration repair, nail trephination, electro-coagulation, nasal cautery, gastric lavage, bladder catheterization, peripheral venous line insertion, and spinal immobilization.
• Treat emergent disorders of the cardiovascular, hematopoietic, endocrine, metabolic, nutritional, head and neck, eye, musculoskeletal, nervous, psychiatric, respiratory, renal, urologic, and OB/GYN systems.
• Perform major procedures including central venous line placement, arterial catheter placement, emergency chest tube or needle thoracostomy, peritoneal lavage, defibrillation, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, and pericardiocentesis.
• Stabilize patients with traumatic injuries for transport to appropriate facilities when immediate treatment and release is not medically indicated or when the clinical level of care is not available.
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.

Requirements

• Active Physician license from any U.S. State, Commonwealth, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
• ABEM or AOBEM Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• Minimum of two (2) years recent experience working in an Emergency Department (ED) setting.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
• Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
