About the Role
Gensler is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner in their New York office to partner with studio leadership in shaping culture and values. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a strategic HR team in a creative environment, working directly with leaders to foster a People First environment. You will report to the People Leader and serve as the day-to-day contact for studios, advising on core HR programs including employee relations, performance management, organizational design, legal compliance, staffing, mobility, and policies.
Responsibilities
- Coach managers and leaders on HR issues, providing insight and options compliant with legislation and consistent with Gensler philosophies, policies and culture.
- Build strong relationships with studio leaders acting as a trusted advisor on HR topics.
- Advise and coach managers on effective growth conversations, performance management and building high-performing teams.
- Proactively identify skills gaps and recommend actionable solutions.
- Investigate, document and resolve employee relations issues, keeping the People Leader and HR team informed of progressive discipline steps.
- Use data and metrics to identify insights aligned with business priorities to support leaders in making informed and strategic business decisions.
- Drive the development and execution of organizational design and change plans with Studio Directors.
- Partner with HR team colleagues to create, innovate, and lead HR practices and programs.
- Collaborate on annual projects and other HR initiatives.
- Work with HR leadership regarding compensation and rewards programs.
- Partner with Talent Development team in rolling out development and learning programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or commensurate experience required.
- 8-10+ years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience in an architecture or professional services firm preferred.
- 5+ years in an HRBP role partnering with managers on full employee lifecycle.
- Strong business and HR acumen, including employee relations practices, employment law and compliance, welfare and retirement benefits, and leaves of absence programs.
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity within a heavily matrixed, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
- Experience with change management programs.
- Strategic problem solver with ability to work independently, navigate and maintain productivity, and exercise sound judgment and decision making in a matrix environment.
- Ability to persuade and influence leadership on people matters.
- Strong communication (written, verbal and presentation), coaching and consulting skills.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency required, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Workday a plus.
- Ability to combine hard, numerical data with subjective, contextual, and behavioral insights to drive strategic people decisions.
- A client service-oriented team player who easily connects with studio leaders/team members and collaborates seamlessly across the HR team.
