About the Role
First Place for Youth is seeking passionate individuals to empower and support foster youth in their transition to adulthood. The Education Coach (Bilingual) will play a critical role in helping participants achieve their educational and employment goals, ensuring Spanish-speaking youth have equal access to services.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with high school students and community partners.
- Conduct individual case management meetings to assist participants with identifying and progressing towards short-term goals in education, employment, housing, parenting, relationships, and health.
- Create and facilitate workshops on topics supporting educational progress.
- Attend IEP meetings and other collaborative meetings to ensure participant progress towards educational goals.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with service providers to advocate for clients' educational and program goals.
- Assist participants in identifying supportive connections to achieve program goals and strengthen their support network.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment activities at local high schools and in the community.
- Coordinate with referral agencies, identify community resources, track participant progress, and develop interventions for independent living skills.
- Attend weekly program meetings, monthly agency staff meetings, and individual supervision.
- Enter data efficiently to support program evaluation and outcomes tracking.
- Ensure timely documentation of services, including case notes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization and within the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Three years of experience working with at-risk transition-aged youth or similar populations, preferably current or former foster youth.
- Strong dedication to cultural competency that removes barriers.
- Ability to lead teams and hold members accountable.
- Understanding of the child welfare system.
- Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, and verbal) required.
- Excellent knowledge of education and employment resources for youth in the Bay Area.
- General knowledge of issues facing transitioning foster youth.
- Experience in youth development models, asset-based relationship building, and motivating youth.
- Willingness to work collaboratively and independently.
- Dependable car, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and database systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including research, analysis, and presentation abilities.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work and some travel.

- Bachelor's Degree Pay Range: $30.52 - $32.22/Hourly
- Master's Degree Pay Range: $33.81 - $35.91/Hourly
