About the Role
The Commercial Director will manage complex, multi-stakeholder transactions from proposal to execution, ensuring Peak Power's economics are preserved and agreements are financeable and executable. This high-visibility role is central to driving deal velocity and quality.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end commercial process for assigned transactions, including energy services, partnerships, EPC, and asset sales.
- Drive the transaction plan, including stakeholders, timelines, dependencies, and open issues.
- Collaborate with Strategic Finance, Legal, Operations, and Development teams to align on commercial terms, obligations, and economics.
- Participate in internal and external meetings to advance negotiations and align with counterparties.
- Maintain structured deal artifacts and document decisions.
- Provide clear status reporting on active deals, highlighting changes, risks, and required decisions.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose process improvements to increase transaction speed and predictability.
- Improve and standardize templates, workflows, and best practices.
- Utilize GenAI tools to accelerate drafting, summarization, issue tracking, and stakeholder updates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience running commercial/transaction processes in complex deal environments (e.g., distributed energy, infrastructure, renewables, storage, or complex B2B).
- Broad commercial experience, with a potential specialty in contracting/legal, project finance, or project development.
- Strong contracting fluency and comfort engaging directly with counterparties.
- Strong project management capability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
- Ability to understand economic tradeoffs and the impact of terms on financeability and project economics.
- A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, motivated to solve problems and support team success.
- Passion for contributing to innovative solutions to climate change.
- Flexibility to adapt activities to evolving team priorities in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to figure things out when processes are not clearly defined.
