About the Role
The Project Development Manager will be pivotal in driving the execution and delivery of day-to-day operations of Peak's electric asset portfolio. You will lead project initiation, define project calendars and work breakdown structures, and establish deliverable acceptance and reporting procedures. Leverage your understanding of electricity markets, energy storage, and power systems to develop processes for operational excellence and position Peak's electric asset portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Deliver operational performance targets and project milestones.
- Define and document RFPs and scope of work packages for 3rd party EPC firms.
- Participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation.
- Conduct due diligence on potential projects, evaluate site suitability, and analyze various reports.
- Define acceptance criteria for project deliverables and oversee their review.
- Monitor and report on project progress, evaluate systems for efficiency, and implement transparent tracking processes.
- Lead project status update meetings with management, utilities, EPCs, and finance counterparties.
- Manage the collection, organization, and filing of all project documentation.
- Review and manage EPC Contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance.
- Maintain and develop relations with Battery OEM and balance of plant vendors.
- Manage engagements with project stakeholders and act as a company representative.
- Coordinate activities of internal teams and external deliverables.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational performance, efficiency, and scalability.
- Contribute to Peak Power’s electric asset portfolio growth.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of professional experience in a project development or related role.
- 3-5+ Years of Experience in developing and constructing behind and in front of the meter energy storage projects.
- Familiarity with battery storage design and technical standards.
- Familiarity with civil and structural technical knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred.
- Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive-level reporting.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Knowledge of NFPA 855 & UL 9540.
- Proficiency in MS project and Office Suite.
- A roll up your sleeves attitude, motivated to solve problems and support team success.
- Passionate about contributing to innovative solutions to climate change.
- Flexible to adapt activities as needed to support evolving team priorities in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Work schedules may vary according to changing operational needs.
- Normally works a non-traditional work week.
