About the Role

Reporting to the COO, the Project Manager will drive the execution and delivery of day-to-day operations for Peak's electric asset portfolio. You will lead project initiation, define project timelines and work breakdown structures, and establish deliverable acceptance and reporting procedures. Leverage your understanding of electricity markets, energy storage, and power systems to develop processes supporting operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team to bring a portfolio of projects to NTP
  • Own and lead energy storage project development, managing key deliverables including interconnection, permitting, environmental assessments, site surveys, procurement, cost estimates, and interconnection processes to reach NTP
  • Manage a project pipeline of energy storage projects and execute complex milestone deliverables across stakeholders
  • Define and document RFPs and scope of work packages for 3rd party EPC firms, participating in EPC selection and contract negotiation
  • Conduct due diligence on potential projects, evaluate site suitability, and analyze reports (environmental, geo-tech, etc.)
  • Define acceptance criteria for project deliverables, establish delivery dates, and oversee review of client deliverables to ensure they meet acceptance criteria and secure sign-off
  • Monitor and report on progress, evaluate processes and systems for efficiency improvements, and implement transparent tracking processes
  • Lead project status update meetings with management, utilities, EPCs, and finance counterparties
  • Manage the collection, organization, and filing of all project documentation for internal, external third-party stakeholders, and project financing needs
  • Review and manage EPC Contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Battery OEM and balance of plant vendors
  • Manage engagements with project stakeholders and act as a company representative for interactions with landowners, local governmental agencies, customers, contractors, equipment and materials suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate activities of internal teams (project engineering, construction management, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, accounting) and deliverables of EPC Contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory/permitting authorities
  • Problem-solve site, permit, and technology issues with internal experts and external stakeholders
  • Understand key project financing elements and collaborate with finance and commercial teams to ensure projects meet financial hurdles
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational performance, efficiency, and scalability to contribute to Peak Power's electric asset portfolio growth

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a construction project management or related role
  • 3+ Years of Experience in developing and constructing behind and in front of the meter energy storage projects
  • Familiarity with battery storage design and technical standards
  • Strong civil and structural technical knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive-level reporting
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
  • Knowledge of NFPA 855 & UL 9540
  • Proficiency in MS project
