About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Lead to grow and guide our AI-first tax platform engineering team. This role involves a blend of hands-on technical work and team leadership, focusing on owning complex systems and enabling team members to perform at their best. You will collaborate with the CTO and founding team to shape engineering practices, hiring, and operational strategies. This position is ideal for a strong engineer who enjoys leading without stepping away from technical challenges and thrives in early-stage environments tackling difficult, undefined problems.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers across one or more product areas, setting direction, unblocking work, and raising standards.
Own complex, enterprise-scale technical problems end to end, including architecture decisions and production deployment.
Partner with the CTO to define engineering processes, hiring standards, and team structure.
Drive technical decisions across the stack with a focus on pragmatism and long-term scalability.
Actively recruit, onboard, and develop engineers.
Collaborate with product and founders to translate business needs into a technical roadmap.

Requirements

10+ years of engineering experience.
Proven track record of leading or managing high-performing teams.
Experience owning complex, enterprise-grade technical systems end to end.
Strong full-stack background.
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Low-ego, high-ownership mindset; lead by doing.
