About the Role
The Supervisor, Operations will lead daily department operations with a strong floor presence to achieve production, quality, safety, and customer service goals. This role effectively balances staffing and capacity, communicates priorities across teams, and resolves issues quickly, fostering a safety-first, continuous improvement culture while developing and engaging associates.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong, consistent on-the-floor presence, observing processes, workflow, and associate performance.
- Balance operational, capacity, and staffing issues to achieve efficiency and staffing targets.
- Achieve service-level targets and produce high-quality products.
- Anticipate and meet customer needs, building a customer-focused environment.
- Share real-time production status, risks, and priorities with other departments.
- Align daily production priorities with customer demand and delivery commitments.
- Utilize department budgets, input files, and production reports for effective judgments and recommendations.
- Maintain and drive continuous improvement through 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and associate engagement.
- Drive a safety-first culture and improve ergonomic conditions.
- Respond quickly to floor-level issues including staffing gaps, equipment problems, quality concerns, and shortages.
- Prepare for daily board and weekly operation meetings to discuss department status and upcoming focus areas.
- Use collaborative communication with other supervisors and teams to resolve production issues.
- Model effective leadership principles to support a positive culture, pursuing training, coaching, recognition, and engagement opportunities.
- Drive a culture of accountability using soft skills, setting clear expectations, and addressing poor behavior or performance.
- Participate on project teams that further organizational goals.
- Maintain technical competence by staying abreast of latest approaches and current events.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train associates.
- Develop, administer, and update department operating procedures.
- Administer company policies and procedures.
- Perform marginal tasks.
Requirements
- 5-7 years supervisory experience in an automated distribution or manufacturing field, preferably in a pick/pack environment.
- Experience with computerized warehouse management system required.
- Familiarity with packaging equipment and conveyor systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
