About the Role

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineer with a strong background in CFD, specializing in tunnels (ideally railways), to join their MEP engineering team. This role is accountable for delivering CFD designs for MEP projects, including high-speed rail.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for tunnel ventilation for MEP projects, including high-speed rail.
  • Produce MEP designs as instructed by the project's Contractor Responsible Engineer and/or Lead Engineer.
  • Ensure designs meet Lead Engineers' requirements and agreed timescales.
  • Plan allocated design works to meet agreed timescales.
  • Identify changes to client requirements and raise them with the Lead Engineer.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience using commercial CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, or STAR-CCM+.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics and CFD workflows, including geometry preparation, meshing, solver setup, and post-processing.
  • Ability to interpret simulation results and communicate findings clearly in reports and presentations.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.
  • Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards.
  • Previous consultancy environment experience is advantageous.
  • Significant engineering design and site experience in a similar consultancy or contractor organization.
