About the Role
Under minimal supervision, creates complex plans and drawings for engineering and manufacturing use in satisfying customer requests for product. Interfaces with customers on a limited basis. Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepares working plans and complex drawings with minimal supervision.
- Creates, monitors, and updates working plans to meet schedules.
- Uses databases and software (e.g., CAD/CAM) for design support.
- Performs complex engineering computations and drawing adjustments.
- Verifies completed work, checks dimensions, and maintains drawing accuracy.
- Assists Design Engineers and Managers to meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Demonstrates creativity in meeting design rules.
- Takes a significant role in design execution, including reviews and follow-up.
- Ensures conformance to company quality systems.
- Provides guidance and training to lower-level designers.
- Coordinates with other internal departments affected by design development.
Requirements
- High school diploma minimum.
- Technical or trade schooling preferred.
- 4+ years of experience as a mechanical drafter/designer or equivalent education/experience.
- Experience in the electronic or telecommunications industry preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of drafting techniques, CAD software, design rules, procedures, and documentation systems.
- Ability to apply advanced knowledge of practical, mechanical, and fabrication problems.
- Able to interact with customers on a limited basis.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Must be a US person as defined by US regulations (ITAR/EAR).
