About the Role

Under minimal supervision, creates complex plans and drawings for engineering and manufacturing use in satisfying customer requests for product. Interfaces with customers on a limited basis. Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares working plans and complex drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Creates, monitors, and updates working plans to meet schedules.
  • Uses databases and software (e.g., CAD/CAM) for design support.
  • Performs complex engineering computations and drawing adjustments.
  • Verifies completed work, checks dimensions, and maintains drawing accuracy.
  • Assists Design Engineers and Managers to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrates creativity in meeting design rules.
  • Takes a significant role in design execution, including reviews and follow-up.
  • Ensures conformance to company quality systems.
  • Provides guidance and training to lower-level designers.
  • Coordinates with other internal departments affected by design development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma minimum.
  • Technical or trade schooling preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a mechanical drafter/designer or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience in the electronic or telecommunications industry preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of drafting techniques, CAD software, design rules, procedures, and documentation systems.
  • Ability to apply advanced knowledge of practical, mechanical, and fabrication problems.
  • Able to interact with customers on a limited basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be a US person as defined by US regulations (ITAR/EAR).
