About the Role
We are looking for you starting immediately at one of our German locations in Munich, Nuremberg, Leipzig, Berlin, Essen, or Frankfurt am Main!
Responsibilities
- You purposefully shape challenging data science projects in an interdisciplinary team.
- You routinely recognize your customer's needs and develop effective, data-driven solutions and process optimizations within the chemical industry.
- You extract the crucial data from your customers' datasets for the task at hand.
- You create innovative solutions using modern methods from statistics, machine learning, mathematical optimization, and visual analytics.
- You successfully communicate your results to your customer and subsequently accompany the comprehensive implementation of your idea together with the Data Engineering team.
- As an expert with specialized knowledge, you participate in customer appointments.
Requirements
- Very good quantitative-natural science or engineering degree (M.Sc. or PhD) with a strong focus on chemistry - e.g., in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, or similar.
- You are characterized by strong communication and presentation skills, fluent in German and English.
- You have already gained practical experience through internships, working student positions, research projects, theses, or industry collaborations.
- Experience with laboratory, simulation, or production data (e.g., from MES, PLS/DCS, LIMS, ELN).
- You bring good knowledge in areas such as machine learning, data analysis, time series analysis, anomaly detection, Bayesian optimization/active learning, process optimization, simulation, or modeling of physical systems, etc.
- You have practically relevant competencies in data-driven optimization of chemical, pharmaceutical, or production processes (batch and/or continuous).
- Very good analytical thinking skills, high motivation to learn, pragmatic initiative, and the ability to analyze complex problems in a structured manner are among your strengths.
- Strong expertise in common analytics toolboxes, especially the Python programming language (and relevant libraries), as well as basic knowledge of databases, big data technologies, and Linux, cloud, or container environments.
- You enjoy project-based work, are customer-oriented, and have a strong interest in industrial processes, chemistry, or R&D-related issues.
