About the Role
As a Software Engineer within the Dealertrack Canada team, you will modernize platforms that support millions of credit applications annually. You will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, focusing on reliability, automation, and service ownership to improve automotive financing workflows.
Responsibilities
- Implement new features and modules using clean, effective, and testable code.
- Create and maintain services using team and platform standards.
- Write unit tests and contribute to automation to improve release confidence.
- Improve existing code for better maintainability and operation.
- Analyze business problems, customer outcomes, and risks before implementation.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and explain implementation choices.
- Manage work from implementation through release, monitoring, and support.
- Monitor and analyze services to detect issues and improve reliability.
- Participate in support workflows and use production signals to improve future delivery.
- Integrate testing, observability, security, and maintainability into engineering delivery.
- Suggest code-quality improvements during code reviews.
- Pair with engineers and participate in active code reviews.
- Use AI tools responsibly to improve development speed and quality.
- Build domain expertise in automotive financing, fraud prevention, and risk decisioning.
Requirements
- Solid experience building production software with modern engineering practices.
- Strong fundamentals in clean code, testing, debugging, and maintainable design.
- Experience with .NET / C# or strong willingness to work in a .NET backend environment.
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development, ideally React and/or Next.js.
- Ability to build modules or services from scratch following existing patterns.
- Ability to contribute to technical design discussions and explain trade-offs.
- Comfort with production systems, monitoring, and incident response.
- Product-minded engineering judgment focused on customer and business problems.
- Quality-focused mindset regarding testing, automation, and observability.
- Security-aware mindset for systems handling sensitive financial data.
- Clear communication and constructive code-review habits.
- Practical and responsible use of AI tools.
