About the Role
Serve as a Reinsurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting end-to-end ceded reinsurance operations and providing analytical and strategic insights to enhance operational effectiveness. Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate administration of reinsurance arrangements and identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end ceded reinsurance operations, including treaty administration, accounting, settlements, and reporting activities.
- Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to stakeholders, identifying process gaps and driving operational excellence initiatives.
- Ensure accurate interpretation and execution of treaty terms and maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Perform financial analysis, data reconciliations, and bordereaux reporting for ceded reinsurance portfolios.
- Deliver data-driven insights on portfolio performance, loss trends, and financial impacts to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims, and external counterparties to ensure effective management of ceded reinsurance programmes.
- Support and enhance reporting capabilities, metrics, and dashboards to improve transparency and business performance.
- Participate in tactical and strategic projects aimed at increasing efficiency, automation, and quality across ceded reinsurance processes.
- Provide analytical support and recommendations that enable informed business decisions.
- Support the implementation of process improvements, controls, and best practices across reinsurance operations.
Requirements
- 8+ years' experience in reinsurance or outward reinsurance operations, with strong knowledge of ceded reinsurance processes.
- Deep understanding of treaty administration, accounting, settlements, and reporting requirements.
- Experience working within the London Market insurance environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience working with large and complex data sets.
- Ability to interpret and analyse portfolio performance and financial trends to provide actionable insights.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities for process optimisation and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions.
- Solution-focused mindset with a passion for operational excellence and innovation.
- Enthusiasm to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and challenge existing ways of working to deliver better outcomes.
- Strong team player with the ability to build effective relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture.
