About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for Makeready/Washup, Operating and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality labels and related products. This position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency throughout the production process while adhering to all standard operating procedures and Health Safety Policies.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Printflow Web Schedule for scheduled jobs.
- Read and understand the Job Ticket before starting.
- Verify all job components are present before starting the Makeready process.
- Log into Autocount.
- Verify die condition before continuing with Makeready.
- Set up the Job according to the Job ticket, including Anilox, plates, and die.
- Start the press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock.
- Engage print cylinders, adjust printing impression, and run approval strips.
- Perform quality checks on printed rolls for defects such as register issues, missing impressions, and die stain.
- Measure and verify color accuracy using a Spectrodensitometer.
- Verify correct coatings or lamination adherence to the substrate.
- Obtain job sign-off from Quality or Production Supervisor.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on equipment.
- Report maintenance issues through the “FiXX” program.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas according to 5S standards.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to meet production goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma, University/College or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of one (1) year of flexographic printing press experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
- Regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Skills
- Understanding of Silkscreen, Hot Stamp, Cold Foil, Colour, Ink, PS materials
- Use of Spectrodenistometer
- Mechanically inclined
Experience Level
