About the Role
This role supports the UK and Europe Tax Manager in delivering tax advisory, compliance, reporting, and policy support to local businesses with a global perspective. The specialist ensures the Tax Governance Framework is implemented and tax risk is managed effectively, supporting specific business units while collaborating with the wider team.
Responsibilities
- Support the UK and Europe Tax Manager and Principal in implementing the tax strategy and managing Group tax affairs.
- Ensure tax issues and business changes are captured in global and local tax compliance and reporting.
- Deliver compliance requirements across the compliance cycle and all taxes, collaborating with co-source providers.
- Meet tax reporting obligations to ensure responsible management of ETR and cash tax for the respective Business and region.
- Assist with adherence to transfer pricing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Support tax audits, disputes, and tax litigation within the region.
- Evaluate, assess, and manage in-country tax risk in line with the Anglo American Tax Risk Management Policy.
- Provide advice on day-to-day tax matters for the relevant Business.
- Champion collaborative working practices with Group Tax and local/global businesses.
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key business personnel.
- Help embed Group Tax as a valued partner in the local business.
- Assist in delivering tax advice on transactions, including acquisitions and disposals.
- Help develop and enhance relationships with tax authorities.
- Liaise with outside advisors to ensure proper and efficient tax planning and solutions.
- Monitor external developments and determine appropriate action.
Requirements
- Significant relevant post qualification experience is required.
- Experience interacting with Executives would be an advantage.
Skills
- High degree of commercial acumen
- Strong working experience of tax advisory, tax compliance and tax accounting
- Good experience of international tax principles, transfer pricing, tax residence etc
- VAT and employment tax experience advantageous
- Utilising efficient work practices
- Ability to work independently and prioritise and deliver own projects
- Good accounting practices
