About the Company
- The Wirtschaftsrat der CDU e.V. is an entrepreneurial professional association that sees itself as the conscience and voice of the social market economy. Founded in 1963 at the suggestion of Ludwig Erhard, it exceeded 13,000 members for the first time in 2025. It offers a platform to help shape economic and social policy in Germany and Europe. Members include entrepreneurs and companies from all sectors and sizes, from small medium-sized businesses to DAX corporations. Although the name includes 'CDU', the organization is legally, financially, and politically independent of the party. The Wirtschaftsrat advocates for a strong, internationally competitive economic location in Germany. It champions the principles of the social market economy, believing that successful companies create jobs, pay taxes, and contribute to social security. Its credo is: 'Earn first, then distribute.' It emphasizes that social security requires entrepreneurial success and advocates for Germany to fulfill its promise of upward mobility for the younger generation, following Ludwig Erhard's principle of 'Prosperity for all'.
