About the Role
As the Home Modifications Estimator – Home Care, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, compliant, and value-for-money cost estimates for funded home modification works that support client safety, independence, and wellbeing. You will assess proposed modification works, identify risks, validate scope, and prepare detailed cost estimates in accordance with funding requirements, building standards, and organizational policies.
Responsibilities
- Review referrals, decisions, and assessment documents.
- Coordinate site inspections to confirm measurements, access, and conditions.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, and subcontractors.
- Price works using agreed rates, market conditions, and policy requirements.
- Liaise with clients, carers, and health professionals on practical solutions.
- Help develop estimating tools, templates, and standard scopes.
- Join relevant forums to maintain industry knowledge.
- Identify ways to improve efficiency, value, and accuracy.
Requirements
- Solid experience in residential building or home modifications.
- Experience preparing estimates for building or modification works.
- Knowledge of residential construction, compliance, and home modifications.
- Ability to prepare accurate estimates and manage priorities to deadlines.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and OT recommendations.
- Experience in funded, budget-controlled service environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High-level literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
- Understanding of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Trade qualification in carpentry, building, or related construction desirable.
- Experience with At Home, Home Care Packages, NDIS, or similar programs preferred.
- Experience with OT recommendations or home modification scopes desirable.
