About the Role
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) is seeking a Program Planning Specialist Teacher to support the development and implementation of programming within the Queens Family of Schools. This role focuses on providing inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe, and healthy education to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in establishing systems & routines
- Support SEL Programming
- Support the implementation of Adaptations & IPPs
- Support the Program Planning Process
- Support the use of TIENET
- Support students with Academic and Behaviour Challenges
- Assist with Scheduling and caseload management
- Support the selection of appropriate evidence-based interventions
- Support Transition planning
- Provide Complex Case support
- Support teachers, Learning Support Teachers, Educational Assistants, and Administration with the implementation of the program planning process
- Provide support through modelling, co-teaching, and observation/feedback
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree
- Minimum Masters Degree in Special Education, Diverse Learners (SLDNE), Master of Education in Inclusive Education (Curriculum & Instruction) or other directly related Masters Degree
- A related field includes curriculum focus such as Literacy, Numeracy, or Technology
- Minimum five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience
- Minimum two (2) years successful support teaching experience (e.g., Resource, Learning Centre, Learning Disabilities Support)
- Minimum three (3) years experience in the use of TIENET to implement the Program Planning Process including the development and implementation of Individual Program Plans
- Ability to effectively deal with situations that are likely to arise
- Internal applicants must meet a minimum threshold of 70% where they do not have experience in the position
- External applicants must meet a minimum threshold of 70%
- Provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Register Check
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check

Skills
- Knowledge and experience of Teaching Support Teams and Student Planning Teams and the Program Planning Process
- Knowledge of classroom management and building positive student relationships
- Knowledge of local community supports
- Knowledge of Transition Planning
- Ability to develop and deliver professional learning to a variety of groups
- Knowledge of Differentiated Instruction (DI)
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
