About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Line and Cable Design Engineer to lead and deliver complex layout design activities for high-voltage transmission lines and underground cables. You will provide specialist engineering advice, complete and approve designs, coordinate resources, and support projects from feasibility through construction. This role also involves acting as a trusted technical resource, sharing expertise, coaching others, and strengthening engineering standards.

Responsibilities

Deliver, review and approve transmission line and underground cable designs in line with relevant standards, legislation and Transgrid requirements
Complete route selection, PLS-CADD modelling, line schedules, stringing outputs, rating assessments, design reports and site verification activities
Coordinate internal engineers and external consultants to deliver design outcomes within agreed scope, schedule, quality and budget requirements
Investigate complex technical challenges and develop practical, safe and commercially considered engineering solutions
Provide technical guidance to colleagues while contributing to improved design standards, procedures and work practices

Requirements

A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
Demonstrated experience in transmission line and/or underground cable functional layout design
Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD
Experience using CDEGS, CYMCAP, ProjectWise or MicroStation viewed favourably
Strong knowledge of relevant Australian and international standards, design assurance and Safety in Design requirements
Well-developed communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
Ability to guide and support other engineers
