About the Role

The Childcare Consultant will manage a caseload of approximately 25 children, providing consultation services to licensed childcare centres to support children under 12 with extra support needs within the Toronto Children’s Services Every Child Belongs framework.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 25 children to set up supports and accommodations
  • Collaborate with childcare program staff and parents or guardians to develop individualized goals and strategies
  • Visit designated childcare centres to monitor needs and progress
  • Make recommendations and refer services and resources as needed
  • Offer training and guidance to programs on building inclusive environments
  • Conduct observational visits and leverage screening tools to assess strengths and needs
  • Develop and support the implementation of individual consultation plans
  • Coordinate services from different resources to meet the needs of identified children
  • Participate in committees and networks
  • Maintain open communication and update detailed documentation

Requirements

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood diploma combined with a Resource Educator diploma
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Experience in an early learning/childcare setting working with children with special needs
  • Experience offering targeted workshops to parents and professionals
  • Ability to screen and assess specialized needs for children and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of client-related and agency information
  • Willingness and ability to travel within and across midtown Toronto to various centres daily
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Credential verifications and references
