About the Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Director/Senior Director, Commercial Counsel to partner with commercialization functions, serve on the Promotional Review Committee, and negotiate contracts. This role ensures alignment with the Legal & Compliance Team's mission and business goals.
Responsibilities
- Serve as brand attorney and legal business partner, providing legal advice and strategic guidance on healthcare and corporate matters for the Commercial department.
- Advise Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and other Commercial functions.
- Counsel on appropriate communications about products and relationships with external stakeholders.
- Participate on medical, legal, and regulatory review committees for promotional and medical materials.
- Provide legal feedback on advertising, promotional, and educational materials.
- Support Market Access team with strategic legal counseling and contract review.
- Support planning and execution of pre-launch and launch activities.
- Review and negotiate a wide range of agreements with business unit personnel.
- Stay informed of new laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Assist with policy and training development.
- Collaborate with the Legal & Compliance Team to share knowledge and support the business.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Admission to New York Bar or ability to obtain admission.
- 6-8+ years of legal experience in the pharmaceutical industry (law firm and/or in-house).
- Prior experience advising on pharmaceutical advertising and promotional matters.
- Experience participating in promotional and medical review processes.
- Strong knowledge and experience advising on pharmaceutical industry laws and regulations (FDA, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, OIG guidance, PhRMA Code, data privacy, product liability).
- Comfort serving on cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience supporting market access teams is preferred.
