About the Role
Morgan & Akins is seeking an Associate Attorney for its General Liability practice in New York, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys with insurance defense litigation experience. We are a leading defense litigation firm that values your quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation claims
- Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
- Conducting depositions of claimants, medical experts, and fact witnesses
- Preparing clients and witnesses for hearings and trials
- Managing a caseload independently and efficiently, from inception through resolution
- Engaging in consistent communication with clients, adjusters, and opposing counsel
- Ensuring timely compliance with all procedural deadlines
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active bar admissions in NY
- Active bar admissions in NJ (a plus)
- Minimum of 3 years of workers’ compensation/insurance defense experience preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Professional demeanor and a commitment to high-quality legal work
