About the Role
This is an early-career developer role focused on growing within a fintech company that embeds AI into its products. You will collaborate with senior engineers, ship features, and utilize AI tools as a standard part of your workflow. We seek a curious and eager individual excited about building software in an AI-integrated team.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and implement changes within an established VB and C# codebase.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the system's architecture and data model.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and validate financial data.
- Support investigations and reporting requests from Finance and Operations.
- Identify data integrity issues and collaborate with the team on resolutions.
- Review the system from a user perspective to understand business operations and translate insights into technical improvements.
- Write clear, maintainable documentation for system behavior, business logic, and investigation findings.
- Actively build knowledge of financial concepts including lending, payments, and reconciliation.
- Surface problems found within the system.
- Grow with the role as Brighte embraces AI tooling.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of professional software development experience (internships, bootcamps, open source, or significant personal projects count).
- Working knowledge of at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
- Exposure to React or a similar modern frontend framework.
- Comfort with HTML and CSS.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and version control with Git.
- Practical experience using AI tools in work: AI coding assistants (such as Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code), prompt design, or basic LLM API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar).
- A computer science, software engineering, or related technical background, or equivalent self-taught experience.
- A side project, hackathon entry, or learning project that uses LLMs, RAG, or AI agents in a non-trivial way (Bonus).
- Any exposure to cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing (Bonus).
