About the Role

As Head of Compute Partnerships, you will own the sourcing, economics, and strategic positioning of the GPU capacity that powers Applied Compute's post-training and agent infrastructure. This is a high-leverage role focused on securing compute resources, managing commercial relationships, and gaining early access to new hardware generations to create a durable advantage in a fragmented global supply market. You will collaborate with founders, GTM, provider leadership, research, and engineering teams to define compute strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own compute unit economics end-to-end, including contract structure, margin architecture, and long-term P&L impact of supply commitments.
  • Manage global procurement of GPU capacity from hyperscalers, neoclouds, regional operators, and emerging providers.
  • Negotiate and close reserved capacity agreements, spot and burst arrangements, MSAs, DPAs, and order forms.
  • Secure early access to the latest accelerator generations in required quantities.
  • Partner with finance and leadership on capital strategy, including commitment amounts, terms, hardware, and balance sheet exposure.
  • Develop frameworks to translate supply decisions into clear financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with research to translate training roadmaps and RL workloads into compute requirements and assess feasibility.
  • Partner with engineering on acceptance testing, goodput validation, and technical qualification of providers and hardware.

Requirements

  • Strong business and financial acumen, including fluency in unit economics, margin structure, and capital allocation.
  • Ability to model long-term P&L consequences of complex supply decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of the global AI compute market, including providers, hardware generations, pricing dynamics, and future trends.
  • Proven track record of negotiating and closing large-scale contracts, leveraging negotiation power, and structuring deals for downstream economic benefit.
  • Comfort operating across finance, commercial, product, and engineering functions, with the ability to translate between them.
  • High ownership mentality and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Experience structuring large infrastructure or capacity agreements.
  • Existing senior relationships with hyperscalers, neoclouds, or regional compute providers.
  • Background in both finance/capital allocation and hands-on commercial negotiation.
  • Experience sourcing compute or hardware in a high-growth environment where supply was a constraint.
  • Familiarity with AI-native working methods, including LLMs, automation, and programmatic tools.
