About the Role

Develop detailed 2D/3D design drawings and specifications for products using computer-assisted design (CAD) software. Create, modify, and revise designs to correct deficiencies or reduce production problems. Analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, and data to assess design factors and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Work from rough sketches or unavailable sketches and specifications
• Design products with engineering and manufacturing techniques
• Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products
• Work under the supervision of engineers

Requirements

• AA/BS degree (or equivalent), College/Technical Certificate, and 4+ years of experience in a CAD/Drafting capacity preferred
• Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
• Able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in a timely manner
• Active Learning: Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
• Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate
• Ability to work independently to solve design issues
• Periodic travel to and between the company’s manufacturing locations may be required (5-10%)

Skills

• CAD software modeling (AutoCAD, Pro-E, SolidWorks – 3D modeling)
• Product Lifecyle Management (PLM)
• Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
• Mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications)
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of a variety of construction and finish materials including solid woods a plus

Experience Level

• 4+ years of experience in a CAD/Drafting capacity preferred

Education Level

• AA/BS degree (or equivalent)
• College/Technical Certificate
