About the Role
Markel is seeking an experienced Cyber Underwriter to join their dedicated Cyber Division in London. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference within a global community of optimists and problem-solvers, contributing to a company that empowers individuals to seize opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Help raise the profile of Markel and the team in Cyber.
- Demonstrate a strategic and structured approach to broker development, communicating the Markel story compellingly.
- Create and provide Thought Leadership for the Cyber Team.
- Manage a portion or industry within the Cyber Portfolio, analyzing, working with Actuaries, and creating strategy.
- Collaborate with Markel claims colleagues on broker and customer meetings, and analyze claims trends and losses.
- Challenge wordings/clauses, lead in navigating drafting & amending complexities, and raise concerns.
- Contribute to innovation within the product suite, providing expert input into new products and refinement of existing ones.
- Analyze competitors’ products, capabilities, and appetite, and share findings within the team.
- Proactively develop, own, and enhance the customer offering within Cyber, identifying customer needs and providing solutions.
- Take the lead in developing and managing key, Cyber specific broker relationships.
- Actively lead and manage pipelines for the team.
- Influence brokers and advance Markel’s interests through strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Identify new distribution and Delegated/Cover holder opportunities and implement them.
- Manage your own renewal book of business in line with appetite and strategy, including combined ratio targets.
