About the Role
As an Account Executive, your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and expand our customer base within the foodservice and retail industry by identifying new business opportunities and further penetrating existing accounts. You will play a pivotal role in driving top-line and bottom-line sales growth and establishing strong customer relationships. This position requires a proactive and results-driven individual with a deep understanding of multiple categories of food products, supply chain logistics, and business-to-business acumen.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, close, and grow retail-sector customers to drive consistent, profitable sales.
- Build strong relationships with decision-makers; understand needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain regular communication to meet order volume and delivery cadence.
- Execute sales strategies to meet/exceed targets.
- Expand product penetration and profitability across accounts.
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and opportunities.
- Develop proposals and represent the company in customer meetings/events.
- Drive cost savings, efficiencies, and account optimization.
- Prioritize key accounts and manage book of business strategically.
- Make sound decisions on credits, pickups, and limits.
- Understand commodity selling and market dynamics.
- Maintain knowledge across retail, foodservice, and discount segments.
- Clearly communicate product features and benefits.
- Educate and support customers using G&C tools.
- Work with internal teams (Purchasing, Logistics, Accounting, IT, Ops, HR) to support customers.
- Guide Sales Coordinators to ensure execution of responsibilities.
- Coordinate effectively across internal teams and customer organizations.
- Maintain accurate account, AR, and inventory records.
- Analyze sales data for trends and improvements.
- Utilize sales systems and Microsoft tools effectively.
- Perform ROI analysis to optimize pricing, product mix, and customer performance.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of administrative food retail or food service experience required, with sales/profitability experience a plus.
- Maintain of existing account/customer relationships, prospecting, pipeline generation, and closing net-new business.
- Ability to travel occasionally for customer/office visits.
