About the Role
Responsible for the overall appearance of funeral home locations, building maintenance, and grounds keeping, including painting, unclogging drains, facility issue diagnosis, and simple repairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform general interior and exterior building maintenance, including cleaning, carpet cleaning, mopping, unstopping drains, painting, replacing light bulbs, addressing water leaks, and performing minor repairs.
- Assess issues and perform repairs or recommend outside vendors.
- Clean and maintain handyman tools, ladders, and extension cords, ensuring equipment is in working order.
- Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning products and re-order as needed.
- Follow safety protocols to protect self, coworkers, and the public.
- Maintain manicured, safe, and debris-free landscaping, grounds, walkways, and drives, including grass cutting, using weed eaters/edgers, leaf blowers, planting seasonal flowers, and laying sod.
- Monitor and repair sprinkler systems.
- Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines.
- Wash and clean all funeral home vehicles.
- Load and unload caskets.
Requirements
- High school education or GED.
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, and leaf blower.
- Ability to use measuring devices accurately (e.g., tape measure, yardstick).
- Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner.
- Ability to effectively work with others to accomplish tasks.
