About the Role

Responsible for the overall appearance of funeral home locations, building maintenance, and grounds keeping, including painting, unclogging drains, facility issue diagnosis, and simple repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general interior and exterior building maintenance, including cleaning, carpet cleaning, mopping, unstopping drains, painting, replacing light bulbs, addressing water leaks, and performing minor repairs.
  • Assess issues and perform repairs or recommend outside vendors.
  • Clean and maintain handyman tools, ladders, and extension cords, ensuring equipment is in working order.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning products and re-order as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols to protect self, coworkers, and the public.
  • Maintain manicured, safe, and debris-free landscaping, grounds, walkways, and drives, including grass cutting, using weed eaters/edgers, leaf blowers, planting seasonal flowers, and laying sod.
  • Monitor and repair sprinkler systems.
  • Observe safety rules and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines.
  • Wash and clean all funeral home vehicles.
  • Load and unload caskets.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, and leaf blower.
  • Ability to use measuring devices accurately (e.g., tape measure, yardstick).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner.
  • Ability to effectively work with others to accomplish tasks.
