About the Role
Dorsia is seeking a Vice President of Communications to lead the company's public presence across press, social media, influencer marketing, and partnerships. This senior leadership role, reporting to the CEO, involves guiding strategy, managing a team of three, and overseeing an external PR agency. The position requires shaping a consistent and compelling brand voice, leveraging AI for efficiency while maintaining taste and judgment.
Responsibilities
- Establish a proactive press strategy to maintain Dorsia's prominence in key publications.
- Define and protect Dorsia's narrative during significant moments like launches, funding rounds, and crisis situations.
- Cultivate relationships with media across lifestyle, business, tech, and hospitality sectors, including trade press.
- Manage all external and internal communications, including press releases, talking points, and market entry narratives.
- Utilize AI agents for automated press tracking, competitive monitoring, and social listening.
- Oversee social media strategy, defining voice, cadence, and content priorities.
- Collaborate with editorial and creative teams to produce engaging content, using AI for production acceleration.
- Develop a curated influencer program based on brand alignment rather than volume.
- Structure long-term influencer relationships beyond one-off activations.
- Create a measurable framework linking social media performance to brand health and member acquisition.
- Identify and secure partnership opportunities that expand Dorsia's reach while preserving brand integrity.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Marketplace teams to ensure partnership viability.
- Structure co-marketing activations, editorial integrations, and experiential events with partner brands.
- Manage partner relationships from initial contact through execution and wrap-up.
- Define consumer communication strategies for the entire member lifecycle, including acquisition, onboarding, retention, and re-engagement.
- Establish voice standards and messaging hierarchy for all member touchpoints.
- Implement AI-powered personalization in member communications based on behavior and preferences.
- Partner with Product and Data teams to gather member sentiment and behavioral insights.
- Build a member advocacy program to encourage organic storytelling.
- Lead and develop a team focused on social media, consumer communications, and product strategy.
- Manage the external PR agency, including scope, quality, and in-house vs. agency responsibilities.
- Identify and automate high-friction tasks within the communications function using AI agents.
- Set AI fluency as a standard expectation for the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in Communications or Public Relations.
- At least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience building and scaling a communications function within a high-growth consumer brand, preferably in luxury, hospitality, or culture-related industries.
- Deep relationships with Tier-1 press across lifestyle, business, and hospitality verticals, with a history of proactive placements.
- Experience developing communications plans for significant events such as funding announcements, launches, partnerships, and executive hires.
- Credibility with industry trade press and the ability to position a brand as a collaborator.
- History of building influencer programs with clear criteria and demonstrable earned media impact.
- Demonstrated AI fluency, including building and deploying AI agents for monitoring, production, and workflow automation.
- Possess taste, restraint, and judgment aligned with Dorsia's discerning and luxury brand messaging.
