About the Role

McGard is seeking a highly motivated Screw Machine Operator to join our dynamic team and contribute to the manufacturing of high-quality, precision-engineered automotive security products.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more, typically two, six spindle screw machines.
  • Bench set collets, feed tubes, feed fingers, drills, and cross side tools.
  • Change collets, bushings, and feed fingers in stock feeding mechanism.
  • Change gears, stops, and cams as necessary.
  • Inspect tools and compare to tool layout using various gauges.
  • Adjust tools to bring parts into conformance with print.
  • Submit first piece for inspection and start machine.
  • Replace worn tools and sharpen cut off blades.
  • Load bar stock into bar feed mechanism.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks including lube and cutting oil levels.
  • Notify lead if tooling is getting low.
  • Maintain clean and orderly machines and work area.
  • Weigh parts accurately.
  • Empty and spin chips.
  • Notify lead person or technical advisor if job is not producing.
  • Fill out time slips completely and accurately.
  • Perform parts inspections in accordance with Quality Procedure.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in basic math including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 ft. bars up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for 75% of the shift.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Prior lathe experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use calipers and micrometers.

  • $24.00 - $29.00 per hour
  • 10% shift differential
