About the Role

Software Engineers at The Trade Desk are end-to-end owners responsible for the design, building, and delivery of data-focused products. You will actively participate in all aspects of product strategy, working on a wide spectrum of technological challenges within mission-focused teams. Opportunities exist to lead engineers in building large-scale distributed systems, managing petabyte-scale data, machine learning, advanced visualizations, and interactive user interfaces. You will also contribute to team growth through mentoring and technical leadership, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

Participate actively in all aspects of product strategy – from designing, building, and delivering products for our clients.
Lead engineers that focus on building large-scale distributed systems coordinating thousands of servers in cloud and physical data centers around the world.
Manage petabyte-scale data challenges.
Contribute to machine learning and advanced visualizations.
Develop interactive user interfaces.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to local teams.
Raise the bar for those around you through continuous learning and improvement.
Own technical milestones and projects from inception to completion.
Perform task planning, individual code contribution, and code reviews.

Requirements

2 to 5 years of impactful hands-on software engineering experience.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with data scientists.
Ability to root cause pain points in data scientist workflows.
Passion for improving the efficiency of others, particularly in Machine Learning Operations.
Experience building large scale data pipelines with Spark is a plus.
Experience building machine learning models is a plus.
Ability to think beyond the task at hand to understand the 'why' behind team activities.
Ability to own technical milestones and projects in a fast-paced environment, driving them from inception till completion.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to evaluate solutions from first principles.
Ability to adapt solutions to a unique environment.
Broadly skilled engineer accustomed to developing web services.
Experience building always-on systems, working across a variety of technologies and service layers.
Product-focused mindset.
Passion and ability to contribute to discovering client delights and advancing the industry towards openness, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making.
