About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Resident Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our construction management team on construction projects in the NYC and Lower Hudson Valley Region. You will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and sewer infrastructure facilities, and water and wastewater treatment facilities to successfully execute and manage capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day construction oversight/Resident Engineering Inspection efforts.
  • Act as a liaison to design staff for response to Contractor RFIs and review of shop drawings.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and project changes for constructability and practicality.
  • Manage Construction Management field office staff responsible for record keeping, processing of periodic payments, drafting of field change orders, negotiation of change orders, general correspondence, and compiling/drafting of required reports and deliverables.
  • Ensure delivery of daily inspection reports in accordance with client requirements.
  • Manage staff safety, regulatory compliance, permit compliance, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule compliance, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
  • Exert influence to ensure project goals are on target regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
  • Manage the contractor payment process and recommend appropriate adjustments based on work completed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer for large capital improvement projects.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to manage personnel and remain responsive to corporate requirements.
  • 10 years’ Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer experience.
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional Engineer license in New York.

Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Project and the MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
