About the Role

Own and grow a portfolio of U.S.-headquartered, venture-backed software companies. Serve as a trusted advisor to high-growth FinTech and Payment Intermediary clients, connecting them to Citi's global capabilities. Success is measured by relationship quality, new business origination, and differentiated insight.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new client acquisition across the FinTech sector, focusing on venture-backed companies at Series A stage and beyond.
  • Develop deep expertise in payment intermediaries, merchant acquirers, payment processors, money movement platforms, and embedded finance providers.
  • Navigate client's flow of funds and recommend appropriate Citi products and services within the bank's risk appetite.
  • Present to Citi's compliance and risk committee to onboard a payment intermediary entity.
  • Interpret legal opinions and review the risks of payment intermediary counterparties.
  • Develop and execute outbound business development strategies, including direct client outreach, VC/PE partnership development, and referral channel cultivation.
  • Represent Citi at industry conferences, founder events, and venture community forums.
  • Advise clients proactively by sharing relevant market intelligence, sector trends, and tailored financial solutions.
  • Collaborate with product specialists across various departments to structure and deliver customized solutions.
  • Identify and develop cross-sell opportunities across the client portfolio.
  • Oversee the credit relationship for each client, coordinating the credit process and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial banking (at least 5+ years in fintech), relationship management, or a closely related financial services discipline, with a focus on technology or growth-stage companies.
  • Strong knowledge of fintech and payments infrastructure, including complexities of intermediary payment models.
  • Ability to evaluate client business models involving multiple counterparties and understand fund movement within payment ecosystems.
  • Credit skills, including structuring complex credit transactions and guiding deals through the approval process.
  • Deep knowledge of banking and investment products, with a track record of delivering sound financial advice.
  • FINRA Series 79, 63, and SIE licenses, or the commitment and eligibility to obtain them.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders under time pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, with confidence to engage at senior levels.
  • Comfort with data-driven decision-making and ability to rapidly reprioritize.
