About the Role
eBay is seeking a strategic, commercially minded events leader to head up its Seller Events function. This pivotal role is responsible for designing and delivering a best-in-class events program that deepens connections with UK sellers and advances marketplace strategy. The role involves leading a team, managing the full events calendar from concept to execution, with a focus on cost efficiency, operational excellence, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Seller Events team, including two direct reports and seasonal support staff.
- Lead the UK seller events strategy, ensuring every event connects meaningfully to broader marketplace goals.
- Think innovatively about how events can be used as a strategic tool for engagement, influencing seller behaviour, driving adoption, and building community.
- Actively seek cost efficiencies and optimise resources, ensuring high-impact events are delivered within budget.
- Run agency partners and external suppliers effectively, driving value and maintaining high standards.
- Build strong relationships with sellers, understanding their needs and translating those insights back into the business.
- Create new event formats and playbooks, genuinely reimagining how to connect with sellers.
- Embed a culture of learning and iteration, using data and feedback to constantly improve the events programme.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure events amplify wider company priorities.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading events programmes at scale, ideally within a marketplace, platform, or eCommerce environment.
- A strategic thinker who understands how events connect to commercial outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies.
- Experience working with agencies and external partners to deliver operationally excellent events.
- A curious, creative mindset someone who challenges existing formats and brings fresh thinking to how events are structured and delivered.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Deep understanding of how marketplaces work and what matters to sellers.
- Highly organised and able to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
