About the Role
Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and supervising the activities of building/facility cleaning staff, ensuring clean and orderly conditions. May also supervise grounds and premises clean-up and basic maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and assign cleaning staff for daily interior cleaning, including waste removal, floor care, dusting, restroom cleaning, wall washing, and window cleaning.
- Assign tasks, inspect work quality, issue supplies, and maintain inventory of cleaning materials.
- Screen and hire job applicants, train employees, conduct performance reviews, and make recommendations for promotions, transfers, or dismissals.
- Prepare and present reports on room occupancy, staff assignments, tasks performed, and department expenses.
- Supervise and schedule exterior building and premises cleaning, snow removal, and basic maintenance.
- Assign staff to assist with minor maintenance and repair work, including painting, fixture replacement, furniture moving, and simple plumbing repairs.
- Supervise or perform other duties such as gardening, lawn care, cleaning outdoor furnishings, inventory control, supply ordering, snow removal, and assisting with tenant moves.
- Promptly respond to and report spills, emergency situations, repair needs, safety issues, and problems with building systems.
- Ensure the proper and safe operation and training for cleaning equipment, tools, devices, and chemical agents.
- Organize and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensure staff training on Hazard Communication Program, and enforce the use of appropriate safety gear.
- Dispose of cleaning agents and chemicals in an environmentally friendly manner.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to follow and provide oral and written instructions.
- Ability to follow through on work orders and coordinate others.
- Ability to supervise and work collaboratively.
- Must be reliable, thorough, observant, organized, flexible, and courteous.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word and Excel) and Work Order System.
- Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment, and safely install rigging/lifting devices.
- Regularly required to crouch and reach by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties.
- Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
- Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing.
- Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics.
