About the Role

WGU is seeking a Visual Designer to create engaging digital content for instructional media. This role involves leading and managing multiple projects, ensuring successful implementation aligned with university goals. The Visual Designer will embrace creative challenges and continuously improve their skills and institutional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with trends, innovations, and research in instructional media, particularly graphic design, animation, scripting, and storyboard/wireframe.
  • Produce graphics, videos, animations, documents, and other multimedia assets for online courses.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate programs and vendors.
  • Manage projects in learning experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Program Development to improve learning and design of courses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in animation, graphic design, digital media, or a relevant field.
  • 3 years of experience working in graphic design, animation, multimedia, or a related field.
  • Successful creative project management experience.
  • Experience with shooting and/or editing video.
  • Audio production or voice-over experience.
  • Experience with instructional design and learning design.
  • Experience designing online courses or digital learning experiences.
  • Proficiency with Adobe products (After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Graphic design and Animation skills and concepts.
  • Self-initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year).
  • Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed.
  • Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
