About the Role
Accountable for project financial performance and team communication, responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of documents, and coordination of disciplines. Primary responsibility for the implementation of Construction Phase Services and securing QA reviews. Must be a licensed architect responsible for signing/sealing drawings and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the overall design intent is incorporated into detailed documentation.
- Monitoring the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration.
- Providing technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
- Developing specifications and coordinating drawings and specifications with the Specification Writer.
- Checking completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
- Setting the overall strategy for producing documents and identifying sheets for each stage of work.
- Defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated into a BIM.
- Setting up project team software parameters and managing standards.
- Fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team.
- Communicating with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
- Ensuring construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
- Supervising the preparation of technical drawings by less senior architects or technicians.
- Acting as team leader on certain projects.
- Mentoring and directing the work of less experienced staff.
- Participating in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
- Taking personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
- Fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.
- Developing a positive relationship of trust with client leadership.
- Communicating with client representatives to verify design requirements, specifications, progress, and final delivery.
- Coordinating use and tracking of shared electronic documentation and files.
- Assisting in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to working drawing sets.
- Meeting with municipal building departments and governing agencies to coordinate approvals or variances.
- Writing reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
- Providing technical support and project communications to the team.
- Attending on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
- Preparing and coordinating the review of contractor’s schedules and submission of shop drawings and samples.
- Assisting the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, and evaluating materials.
- Involved with specification set-up and drawing coordination, research, and appropriate use of HOK Standards.
- Providing support to team members for specific market, discipline, or expertise areas.
- Participating in team meetings to resolve project issues, coordinate disciplines, and ensure schedule and technical adherence.
- Participating in the review of project costs, budgets, and schedule adherence.
- Preparing meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings.
- Preparing 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and building models for review.
- Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
- Participating in business development meetings to target project, client, or market opportunities.
Requirements
- Must be a licensed architect.
- Responsible for signing/sealing drawings.
- Needs to participate in and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
- 10 plus years’ design experience.
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
