About the Role

We are looking for a Guidance and University Counsellor with a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a proven track record in supporting students to achieve their dreams and ambitions. This role involves participating in guidance program planning for grades 9 to 12, regular guidance responsibilities for a roster of students, and providing career and postsecondary pathway planning support.

Responsibilities

Building connections with students on your roster, contributing to a culture of belonging.
Collaborating with the student support and guidance team to deliver in-class guidance workshops.
Supporting students in strengthening work habits and learning skills.
Advising, supporting, and coaching students and their families during the post-secondary search and admissions process.
Supporting students in course selections that align with their postsecondary goals.
Keeping abreast of trends, application procedures, and testing requirements.

Requirements

Minimum of three years’ experience in academic counselling, career and postsecondary pathway planning.
Thorough knowledge in the application and admissions process for the world’s leading universities.
Experience in supporting grade 9 students through the transition to high school is an advantage.
In good standing with Ontario College of Teachers, and have completed Guidance Qualifications (Guidance 1 and 2).
Demonstrated experience in guiding students through social emotional skills development, academic and educational planning, and relationship building with students’ caregivers and teachers.
University counselling experience with excellent working knowledge of US and UK university destinations and application process.
A solid grasp of Culturally Responsive - social-emotional learning (CR-SEL) programming.
Strong commitment to Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Familiarity with the Independent Schools environment is preferred.

Salary/Compensations

$85,000 to $125,000 depending on educational qualifications and years of teaching experience.
