About the Role

The Clinical Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor and is responsible for supporting quality and clinical outcomes to provide efficient and effective provision of supports and services for persons diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of Kerry’s Place through actions.
• Maintains ongoing practice adherence to all aspects of the Standards of Professional Conduct, as outlined by the College of Psychologists & Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).
• Ensures clinical service delivery is in accordance with Quality Assurance Measures (QAM) and relevant legislative requirements.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with families, partner agencies, interdisciplinary professionals, volunteers, government employees, direct support employees, and the community.
• Supports integration in educational, community, and family programs and activities.
• Uses Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles to design and conduct function and evidence-based intervention procedures, considering assessment results, supporting environments/contexts, risks/benefits, constraints, and social validity.
• Obtains necessary consents for assessments, analysis, and treatment plans, and follows appropriate storage and retention methods to maintain privacy and security of documents.
• Develops and supports implementation of individual behaviour plans and protocols, including objectives, data collection, monitoring, and data analysis, in conjunction with the Clinical Supervisor.
• Provides direct support to persons with ASD, including 1:1 teaching sessions and/or small groups.
• Provides coaching, education, and training opportunities for families, direct support employees, Clinical Technicians, and community partners.
• Records curriculum assessment results, prepares data summaries and reports, and conducts integrity checks.
• Collaborates with the Clinical Supervisor to conduct risk assessments and develop plans to mitigate risk due to maladaptive behaviour.
• Supports the Clinical Supervisor in the development and ongoing monitoring of all behaviour programming, including behaviour support plans, relevant protocols per Kerry’s Place policy/procedure, and mandatory Ministry guidelines for the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), and Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
• Works as a fully participating member of a bio-psycho-social team.
• Participates in team meetings, appointments, psychiatric clinics, and attends Person Directed Plans (PDPs), as applicable.
• Ensures the health and safety of supported persons in accordance with Ontario Regulation 299/10 Quality Assurance Measures, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and Provincial and Municipal regulations and by-laws.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• University degree or college diploma specializing in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Behaviour Science, Psychology, or related education in a human services field.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a professional within a clinical multidisciplinary team with Applied Behaviour Analysis and related assessment and therapeutic skill-building techniques (including communications) with persons with developmental disabilities/ASD and their families or caregivers.
• Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and evidence-based treatment models and approaches.
• Proven practical experience in conducting behaviour assessments, developing behaviour interventions, and analyzing data.
• Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems.
• Must have the ability to complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification and perform the required physical techniques.
• Requires flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• A valid Driver’s License with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle is required for frequent business travel.
• Proof of third-party liability insurance coverage is required.
• Must be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points as a condition of employment.
