About the Role
Stern Cohen FIT is seeking an Intermediate QuickBooks Online Bookkeeping Specialist to join their innovative cloud bookkeeping and accounting practice, supporting owner-managed businesses with comprehensive financial services using modern technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of client accounts.
- Prepare bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax filings (HST, WSIB, T4, installments).
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, consistency, and use of cloud-based tools.
- Coordinate and distribute bookkeeping tasks amongst a team.
- Communicate frequently with clients, responding to questions, concerns, and requests.
- Onboard new clients and set up new QuickBooks files.
- Conduct occasional Zoom meetings with clients to review statements, address questions, and troubleshoot issues.
- Prepare year-end packages for accountants, including trial balance, adjusting entries, and account reconciliation.
- Prepare and process payroll using online software.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of bookkeeping experience in a public accounting or multi-client environment.
- Bookkeeping experience with QBO, Dext, Plooto, and other accounting software.
- Completed College or University Degree/Diploma in Accounting/Finance or Bookkeeping.
- High level of accuracy and accountability.
- Strong work ethic, diligent, committed, and able to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to produce work that demonstrates attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to handle conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to plan and organize schedule and workflow to meet various deadlines.
- Knowledge of Wagepoint or other payroll systems.
- Confident and professional communication skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, out-of-the-box thinker with a willingness to learn.
- CPA students will not be considered for this role.
