About the Role
The Corporate Accounting team maintains the organization's financial integrity through accurate reporting, compliance, and analysis. This role supports the team in preparing and reviewing monthly reports, account reconciliations, and assisting with audit and tax filings, offering exposure to IFRS-based accounting and corporate reporting processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly financial reporting for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare monthly consolidation and portfolio variance analysis.
- Prepare journal entries for significant transactions such as property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing.
- Prepare detailed management reports, including developing dashboards and synthesizing information.
- Process distributions to unit holders and oversee fund management processes, including management fees.
- Undertake the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting for multiple entities, including financial reports to Blackstone/Ivanhoe Cambridge.
- Assist with compiling information to support income tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Assist with the year-end audit including preparation of annual consolidated financial statements, working papers and related analysis.
- Conduct performance analyses and forecasting and intercompany balances.
- Document and improve processes and assist with preparing technical accounting memos.
- Engage in continuous process improvements to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of reporting.
- Work closely with the Corporate and the Property Accounting teams to ensure the integrity and consistency of accounting records.
- Support junior accountants in training and technical accounting guidance.
- Assist with special projects, as required.
Requirements
- Professional accounting designation required (CPA, CA, CGA, etc.).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role or public accounting role.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage work.
- Self-starter who will take ownership of responsibilities.
- Fast learner, able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize deliverables.
- Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skill set.
Skills
- Experience with complex corporate structures, intercompany transactions, and consolidations is an asset.
- Knowledge of Yardi software is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
