About the Role

At STERIS Instrument Management Services (IMS), we are the trusted experts in surgical instrument sterilization, offering on-site and off-site reprocessing alongside reliable instrument maintenance solutions. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment where quality and precision are vital. Full training and support are provided to help staff reach their full potential, learning a wide range of hospital instruments and working in different functional areas of the sterilization process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments and equipment) through decontamination, inspection, assembly, and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously check, wash, lay-up, and pack theatre instrument sets to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic, and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensure repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensure repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock, appropriate coded sets, or the Trust’s appointed person.
  • Perform disassembly, inspection, decontamination, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation to predetermined standards using complex processing units.

Requirements

  • Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end-user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.
  • TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health-related products.
