About the Role

This role leads the category management function for a major national rail programme focused on delivering a modern, electrified high-speed corridor. The position involves guiding category leads, shaping end-to-end strategies, and driving impactful outcomes as a professional, effective, and inspiring role model.

Responsibilities

  • Leads group-wide category management and high-value tenders.
  • Builds strategic senior and C-suite partnerships.
  • Provides expert due diligence and market insight.
  • Drives process, performance, and commercial value creation.
  • Develops and embeds strategic plans.
  • Influences and negotiates on critical decisions.
  • Delivers objectives in complex environments.
  • Champions net-zero delivery through proactive carbon management.
  • Champions a safe, diverse, and inclusive working environment.
  • Leads on cost management services including estimating, procurement, and cost planning.
  • Owns the quality of deliverables, strategic outcomes, and builds long-term client relationships.
  • Leads operations that are fiscally and ethically viable.
  • Influences the achievement of business objectives that align with business and legislative compliance obligations.
  • Mentors, coaches, and develops teams.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans.
  • Champions a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering major rail or high-speed programmes, ideally within the design or early set-up stages.
  • Strong commercial, tender, and executive-level negotiation expertise.
  • Proven project experience with confident stakeholder influence.
  • Highly effective communicator with advanced Microsoft Office skills.
